Expectant Society

Expectant Society...

We are an expectant bunch these days...

I drove home last night listening to WFAN sports radio...

Steve Sommers had 3 minutes left before a *preseason* Mets game so he turned up he mic and let loose:

{Rough Translation}
Who is smiling these days? How can you smile these days?

All we see is pain and suffering...all that's broadcast are stories of deceipt and terror...

Never happy anymore...nothings enough...Not happy in the stadium we are in...not happy with the plan for the new one...

Not happy with the location that it's being built...not happy with the speed with which it is created...Then not happy with the

price of the new shiny set thats under your butt...Not happy that your team isn't in first place...

Tonight...in 2 minutes I have only a game for you...just a game...nothing else...

no records will be broken...no trophies will be awarded...no fights will occur...noone will be suspended...just a game for the sake

of playing it...just a game...and I couldn't be more excited because I enjoy the game...I am a fan of baseball...{/Rough Translation}

Awesome...

My thoughts exactly...We have so many things available to us...we can control almost anything we chose to...but you cannot teach

an american to appreciate a hot shower...you cannot teach a rich child to appreciate lunch money...and you cannot teach a spoiled

youth to appreciate anything...unless it's taken away...Think back to when you got your first place...a new house or apartment...remember sitting on a box between those empty walls...Grinning ear to ear...totally complacent...in 6 months when you fill it up with tons of crap it won't mean as much...you'll pay attention to the lack of space...the pain in the ass neighbor...
the work that needs to be done...chasing that feeling you felt when you first walked in...We aren't taught appreciation we are taught depreciation...I think the American Dream has changed...Parents used to tell their inquiring child that it doesn't matter what Jimmy's parents bought him this is what you have and respect it or you'll have nothing...now they buy him a better one and throw the old one out...
